Journal Week 11 — A Spooky Week

Halloween events and a week of steady progress.

Brief

This week was much calmer. I attended a Halloween costume event and worked on a funny ticket.

What’s new?

First of all, I made progress on the project my friend asked me to help with. It let me practice my coding skills again and put my planning skills into practice.

I have been practicing integrals for the integral-calculus tournament I entered. I have not been able to practice as much as I would like, but something is better than nothing.

I have also continued progressing with ticket handling. For the first time, I went through a sprint change at work.

Intermediate tasks?

This week, I worked on fewer tickets, but in my opinion they were a little more complex and involved extra steps that required more time. I think I have been developing my skills to take on a broader range of tickets.

Competitions?

On one hand, I was able to give my friend a product that met the minimum requirements. I think it is decent and has room to scale. I convinced my friend to move the project to a language that works well for both of us, so we will continue the project and its future development in Go.

I also took time to practice integrals during the week. I still do not know when the tournament will be, but I want to start preparing.

Learning and progress

This week, I was able to work on my full range of tickets, soft skills, and technical skills. I hope I can keep progressing in all of them.

Next steps

  • Finish my pending university tasks.

  • Read Cloudflare’s profiling blog post.

  • Complete the tasks assigned by Oracle’s internship program.

Reflections

The week was a little busy, but I was able to clear several pending tasks. I still have parts of my university assignments left, such as two Zoom sessions I need to attend. At least I have been able to practice my calculus skills—something that cannot be learned overnight—and this practice did not interrupt my ticket work.
